Wedding Guest
A beautiful time in Fiji turned into an unexpected work opportunity at the very last minute.

Last year I was invited to attend a wedding of a relative of mine. I was super excited to go since this was an opportunity to explore shooting in a different country. With my gear in tow, I was off to Paradise!
The plan was to spend two days in the central city of Fiji, just for the wedding, and then I would make my way to Denarau where I would be staying at the Hilton Hotel. I was thrilled at the thought of staying at the Hilton through my honors program since I had just received my Amex Platinum card a few months earlier.
On the day of the wedding, I planned to make the morning an easy and late one since the rest of the day would be occupied. However, about an hour before the church service was due to start, I received a phone call from another relative of mine stating that the bride had politely requested me take pictures of the pre wedding process. Unfortunately, the couple's hired photographer had a scheduling mishap and wouldn't be able to arrive on time for the pre wedding process. I was surprised but confident that I would be able to do this short photography shoot. I quickly got my gear together and headed off to the bride's hotel room. When I arrived, I immediately got to work. I only had an hour and no accessible internet before this so I did my best with the little time that I had. However, I am pleased with the results. For the reception, the original photographer showed up and did an excellent job. I was happy to put my camera gear away and enjoy the rest of the evening as a wedding guest!
